16 July 2023 – Reigning world 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will start the race to her sixth global title on 22 July in Madrid, at the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting.

In 2022, Jamaica’s Fraser-Pryce won her fifth world 100m gold medal in a World Athletics Championship record of 10.67, adding also a 4x100m silver to her 14-world and 8-Olympic medals resume – no other active athlete (men or women) has won more.

During her long-standing career – which started with the Olympic 100m gold in 2008 –, the Jamaican star has also won five Diamond League final titles and has claimed 25 Diamond League meeting triumphs.

At 36, Fraser-Pryce dipped under 10.70 seven times last year and owns the third-fastest 100m personal best of all-time with 10.60.

‘Pocket Rocket’ has broken the 11-second barrier 78 times throughout 12 seasons – more than any other women in history. In Madrid, Fraser-Pryce will aim to do it one more time. It will be the first step to her sixth world championship 100m title – a milestone that no other athlete has achieved ever in one only event.
